Time stopped when Sarah saw Richard kneeling. The moment he reached into his pocket, pulled open a little black box, and revealed the beautiful ring within was a slow motion. His grin that was growing from cheek to cheek, and him mouthing 'will you marry me' was ringing in her ears.
Sarah dare not move. Her palm cupped her mouth, afraid that her scream failed her. Her eyes were full of dread, and she did not want him to see them. She was shaking. Her nightmare came true. A beautiful nightmare, but it was one she did not deserve.
They've made the plans from weeks ago. The biggest Kite Festival ever in Sanur, an event nobody could pass. They went from the morning, watching the Governor holding the opening ceremony, flying his own kite, and signaling everybody else to start. After a while he insisted they watched from the outskirt, away from the crowd. Then she saw roses scattered on the sand, and then she heard a pop, and then she saw him kneel.
Tears welled up on her eyes. She was happy, of course. Richard never ceased to overwhelmed her with love. He was the best thing that ever happened to Sarah in the last four years. He has done so much for her, more than she could ever give him back. The realisation set in from long ago, and it was nobody's fault that she felt this way.
